Types of Sentences (वाक्य के प्रकार)
Hello friends How are you? I hope you all are doing great! Today's blog is about Types Of Sentences, Grammar series, Part-2 in which I am going to teach you Sentences Based on the construction so without wasting any time let's start.
By Construction: On the basis of construction, sentences are of four types as follows:-
1. Simple Sentence (सरल वाक्य)
2. Compound Sentence (संयुक्तवाक्य)
2. Compound Sentence (संयुक्तवाक्य)
3. Complex Sentence (मिश्रितवाक्य)
4. Compound-Complex Sentence ( संयुक्तवाक्य-मिश्रितवाक्य)
4. Compound-Complex Sentence ( संयुक्तवाक्य-मिश्रितवाक्य)
1) Simple Sentence:-
The sentence which contains a subject and a verb (independent clause) and expresses a complete thought is called simple Sentence.
(वह वाक्य जिसमे एक विषय और एक क्रिया होती है और संपूर्ण विचार को व्यक्त करता है। उसे सामान्य वाक्य कहते है।)
Read What is a Sentence?
Example:-
- Boys are playing in the ground. (लड़के मैदान में खेल रहे हैं।)
- Girls are dancing joyfully (लड़कियॉ खुशी से नाचर ही हैं।)
- Kids are watching T.V (बच्चे टीवी देख रहे हैं।)
- She is talking on mobile. (वह मोबाइल पर बात कर रही है।)
2) Compound Sentence:-
A compound sentence is made up of two or more independent clauses or simple sentences and joins with a coordinator (conjunction) such as for, and, or but, with a comma (,) or a semi-colon. (;)
(एक संयुक्तवाक्य दो या अधिक independent clause का बना होता है, जिसे coordinator के साथ जोड़कर एक वाक्य बनाया जाता है जैसे कि for, and, but, still or a semicolon(;).)
Independent Clause
An independent clause contains three things:-- A subject (ऐसा कुछ या जो सेंटेंस के बारे में है।)
- An action (एक क्रिया- कुछ जो किया जा रहा है।)
- A complete thought (वाक्य के अंत में अर्थ के रूप में।
Coordinator
There are seven coordinating conjunctions in the English Language, which are used to link the independent clauses.(अंग्रेजी भाषा में सात coordinating conjunction हैं, जिनका उपयोग independent clauses को जोड़ने के लिए किया जाता है।):
- For
- And
- Nor
- But
- Or
- Yet
- So
(आप 7 coordinating conjunctions को याद रखने में आपकी सहायता करने के लिए Acronym FANBOYS का उपयोग कर सकते हैं। जब आपके पास इन 7 coordinating conjunctions में से किसी एक के साथ दो independent clauses शामिल होते हैं, तो आमतौर पर comma की आवश्यकता होती है, coordinator के पहले)
Examples:-
Underline word is sub+verb जो की independent clause है.
- Ashish went and came back soon. (आशीष गया है और जल्द वापस आ गया।)
- You can go by train, or return by flight. (तुम ट्रेन से जा सकते हो और हवाई जहाज से लौटो।)
- Sunrises in the east, but sets in the west. (सूरज पूरब मे उगता है लेकिन पश्चिम में डूबता है।)
3. Complex Sentence:-
A complex sentence consists of one main clause and one or more subordinate clauses joined together with the help of subordinating conjunction(s).
(इसमें केवल एक मुख्य उपवाक्य (main clause) होता है और बाकी जितने भी clauses होते है वो dependent clauses (subordinate clauses) होते है।
Complex sentences are dependent on clauses. Clauses are the group of words that form sentences, a clause must contain a subject and a verb(Predicate).
Example:-
b) Dependent - Does not express a complete idea, it is a part sentence and does not make sense by itself.
Dependent clauses begin with a subordinating conjunction e.g when, while, that, because, before, since after, or etc.
Note: When you place the dependent clause at the beginning of the sentence, you need to put a comma after it. When the dependent clause is at the end of the sentence, no comma is required.
Example:-
4. Compound-Complex Sentence:-
A compound-complex sentence consists of at least two independent clauses and one or more dependent clauses.
(एक compound-complex वाक्य में कम से कम दो Independent clauses होते हैं और एक या अधिक Dependent clauses होता है।)
In other words, it is a Compound Sentence with a dependent or Subordinate clause.

idea, i.e. a sentence and makes sense all by itself.Example:-

Example:-
